1. Mold Life & Mold Class Requirement
Mold life is always the first parameter we evaluate.
High-life molds (Class I & II)
Hardness target: approx. HRC 50
Typical steel options:
S136, H13, 8407, 1.2344, 1.2316, SKD61Ideal for mass production with strict dimensional and surface requirements
Medium-life molds (Class III)
Pre-hardened steel options:
S136H, 1.2316H, 718HShorter lead time, stable performance, optimized cost

2. Plastic Material Compatibility

Corrosive plastics such as PVC and POM
Recommended stainless steels: S136, 1.2316

4. Appearance & Surface Finish Requirements
High-gloss, transparent, or cosmetic parts require mold steels with excellent polishing capability.
Premium steels such as S136 and 1.2316 are selected for mirror finish and optical-grade surfaces.
